Meet Amy Swaim, MA, CCC-SLP, BCBA, LBA
For more than 30 years, Amy Swaim has provided expert pediatric speech therapy and behavior support to children and families throughout North Carolina. As one of fewer than 500 dually certified Speech-Language Pathologists and Board Certified Behavior Analysts worldwide, she brings a unique, evidence-based approach to helping every child find their voice.

Amy is a dually certified Speech Language Pathologist and licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She began her undergraduate work at Appalachian State University and finished both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in communication disorders. Amy has been a pediatric speech language pathologist for 30 years in private practice with an extensive background in evaluating and treating articulation disorders, phonological disorders, apraxia of speech, receptive and expressive language disorders, and behavior difficulties. She has had the opportunity to work with and learn from a wide range of children and adults ranging from autism spectrum disorder, Rett syndrome, Down syndrome, learning differences and incorporate her behavior analytic principals from Applied Behavior Analysis into speech therapy. Amy has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst for 16 years, completing her BCBA coursework at Florida Institute of Technology and was one of the first four, dually certified Speech Language Pathologists/Board Certified Behavior Analysts in NC.
Amy is also PROMPT certified and PECS trained. She enjoys helping all children and adults find their voice and style of communication either through vocalizations, PECS, sign language, or an augmentative communication device. Amy has been blessed to provide assistance with speech and language as well as behavior difficulties through the World Pediatric Project speech missions. She has also had the privilege of speaking at both NCSHLA and NCABA. When not at work, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband, listening to yacht rock, and traveling to Florida to visit their adult son.
